How to Stream Free Music with Amazon Prime Posted: 10 Nov 2020 09:15 AM PST Amazon Prime memberships come with a lot more than just free two-day shipping. The Prime Video streaming service is pretty popular, but you may not know Amazon has music streaming, too. We'll show you how to start listening. What is Amazon Music?Amazon Music is actually comprised of four different subscriptions, each with various features and music libraries. Here are the basic differences (a full comparison chart can be found here):
Amazon Music Prime is a good middle-of-the-road music streaming service. It doesn't have a huge library of music like Spotify or Apple Music, but two million songs is decent. If you're a casual music listener who doesn't want to subscribe to an additional service, this is a great deal. Where Can I Listen to Amazon Music?Amazon Music is supported by many of the popular platforms. That includes iPhones, iPads, Android devices, Kindle Fire tablets, Fire TVs, Echo devices, Windows PCs, Macs, and web browsers. You should be able to stream Amazon Music on just about any device you own. How to Get Started with Amazon Music PrimeUsing Amazon Music is really as simple as signing into your Amazon account. Of course, you'll need to be a Prime member to use the Music Prime streaming package. The process will be the same for whichever platform you're using. First, download the appropriate app for your platform. Here, we're using the Android app. You'll be asked to sign in to your Amazon account. Once you're signed in, you'll see a few different sections to explore. The mobile apps have tabs across the bottom, while the desktop apps have tabs at the top. Scroll around and find some music or do a search. You can save songs and albums to your Music Library or create playlists. That's the basics of Amazon Music Prime. It's a great little streaming service that you may not have even known was available. If you're a Prime member, this is yet another little perk you don't want to miss. |
How to End Meetings Early in Microsoft Outlook Automatically Posted: 10 Nov 2020 07:58 AM PST If you're struggling with back-to-back meetings all day, let Microsoft Outlook help by automatically changing the end time so you can take a short break. You can do this in either the Outlook client or the Outlook web app. A lot of settings in the Outlook desktop client will sync with the web app and vice versa, but in this case, they don't. If you use both the client and the web app, you'll have to set this up in both. Thankfully it's really easy though. End Meetings Early in the Outlook ClientTo end meetings early in the Microsoft Outlook client, open File > Options > Calendar and scroll down to the "Calendar Options" section. Check the "End appointments and meetings early" box and choose how many minutes Outlook should end the meeting by in the "Less than one hour" and "One hour or longer" dropdowns. When you're done, click "OK." That's all there is to it. You can return at any time to change the time period, or to turn off the "End appointments and meetings early" feature altogether. End Meetings Early in the Outlook Web AppTo end meetings early in the Microsoft Outlook web app, click Settings > View All Outlook Settings. From the "Settings" menu, select Calendar > Events And Invitations. Check the "End appointments and meetings early" box, and choose how many minutes Outlook should end the meeting by in the "Less than one hour" and "One hour or longer" dropdowns. When you're done, click "Save." That's all there is to it. You can return at any time to change the time period or turn off the "End appointments and meetings early" function altogether.

What Does “OP” Mean Online, and How Do You Use It? Posted: 10 Nov 2020 05:37 AM PST If you've been on a message board or Reddit lately, you might notice people talking about someone called "the OP." If you're not sure who that is, read on. What It Means"OP" stands for "original poster" or "original post." While both of these terms are widely used on message boards and internet forums, they mean different things. The original poster is the person who starts a discussion thread, forum topic, or Reddit post. They often kick-start a conversation or ask a question. If they're asking for advice about a specific situation, they reply to the comments or messages in that thread. When other people refer to the person who started the thread, they type "OP" instead of their username. The "original post" is the first one visible when you open the thread made by the original poster. This is the less common usage of the two. This is used when the post contains a lot of information, such as "megathreads," or guides that consist of multiple important links, updates, and images. "Opening" and "Overpowered"The initialism OP also has two other usages you might see online. In anime communities, OP can stand for "opening," meaning the opening credits at the start of each episode. Among gamers, OP stands for "overpowered." This means a character, item, or something else in a game is perceived as too powerful. When typed in lowercase, "op" is the abbreviation for "opposition." The plural form, "ops," can also mean "operations." The History of OPOP can be traced back to the early days of online message boards in the 1990s and early '00s. The first definition of OP in the Urban Dictionary was made in 2003. It states that it stands for "original poster." Nowadays, it's a common term on various websites that use a message-board format, like Reddit. OP was often used instead of an original poster's username. Since most accounts on message boards were anonymous, they consisted of obscure words, character names, numbers, and symbols. Furthermore, these sites had no tagging or notification systems, like message boards do now. OP was a much faster and easier way to refer to the original poster. In the early days of message boards, the OP of a thread might also use the internet acronym "ITT," which stands for "in this thread," in the title of their posts. Seeing ITT in titles is less common now, but the term is still in use online. OP and RedditThe acronym OP is widely used on Reddit, the largest online message board. In Ask Me Anything or AMA threads, people are told to ask the OP questions. Unless the OP is a well-known public figure, commenters will often use the term "OP" to refer to the person being asked the questions. Another usage is when a poster shares a story or personal experience. When the story is discussed in the comments, people will often refer to that poster as the OP. For example, someone might post "If I had to walk as far as the OP did, I probably would've given up." RELATED: What Does “AMA” Mean, and How Do You Use It? OP on Social MediaOP is also a common term on social media, particularly Twitter. When a tweet has a long chain of replies from multiple people, it becomes a Twitter thread. Therefore, "OP" refers to the person who sent the first tweet. Threads are common on Twitter because of the platform's 280-character limit. When people want to type longer stories or post lots of pictures, they separate them into multiple tweets. If someone stumbles upon an out-of-order tweet in a thread, they'll often look for the OP's first tweet. How to Use OP on ForumsOP is a colloquial term that doesn't really belong in formal emails. You should only use it on social media or online message boards. Here are a few ways you can use OP:
OP is just one of the many acronyms you'll see online. If you want to learn about a few more, be sure to check out what SMH and NSFW mean. |

How to Get Windows 10’s Dark Taskbar and Start Menu Back Posted: 09 Nov 2020 10:58 AM PST Prior to the May 2019 Update, Windows 10 utilized a dark Start menu, toolbar, context menus, and action center with light-colored apps. Now it defaults to a light theme by default—and if you enable dark mode, all your apps turn dark. Here's how to get a dark OS interface with light apps again. First, run Windows Settings by opening the "Start" menu and clicking the gear icon. Or you can press Windows+I on your keyboard. When "Settings opens, select "Personalization." In the "Personalization" sidebar, select "Colors." In Colors settings, locate the "Choose your color" drop-down menu. If you click it, you see three choices:
Click the "Choose your color" drop-down menu. In the menu that appears, select "Custom." When you select "Custom" from the color menu, two new options will appear just below the "Choose your color" menu. For "Choose your default Windows mode," select "Dark." For "Choose your default app mode," pick "Light." Immediately, you'll notice that the taskbar is now dark, while application windows are light—just how Windows 10 used to look. After that, you're free to close "Settings." Enjoy reliving the wild dark/light glory days of Windows 10! |
How to Use Incognito Mode in Google Chrome for Android Posted: 09 Nov 2020 09:51 AM PST Google Chrome was one of the first browsers to support a built-in private-browsing mode. Incognito mode is now available in Chrome on every platform, including Android. We'll show you how to use this important privacy feature. Before we begin, you should know what Incognito Mode does and doesn't do. Its purpose is to prevent Chrome from saving your browsing history, cookies, information you've typed in forms, and other site data. RELATED: How to Enable Private Browsing on Any Web Browser What Incognito Mode doesn't do is make you invisible on the web. Websites and your internet service provider can still see your activity. Additionally, downloaded files and bookmarks are still stored. If you want your activity to be completely invisible, you'll need a VPN. RELATED: What Is a VPN, and Why Would I Need One? Using Incognito Mode on Android is very simple. First, open the Chrome browser on your Android phone or tablet. Next, tap the three vertical dots at the top right. Select "New Incognito Tab" from the list. You're now in Google Chrome's Incognito Mode. One last thing you can do for some extra privacy is toggle-On the "Block Third-Party Cookies" option. You'll now have an Incognito tab next to the others. Tap the tab button at the top to see all your open Chrome tabs. Tabs are separated into two groups at the top; the hat and glasses icon is the Incognito group. That's it! You can now easily switch to Incognito mode in Google Chrome on Android any time you want to browse the web with a little more privacy. |
