How to Find Your Orders in the Amazon App Posted: 24 Jan 2021 08:37 AM PST If you use Amazon.com frequently to purchase items, you might find it handy to see a list of your past orders all in one place. Luckily, with the Amazon app available for iPhone, iPad, and Android, seeing a list of your orders is easy. Here's how. First, open the "Amazon" app on your device. Look for the hamburger button (which looks like three horizontal lines) and tap it. On Android and iPad, this button is located in the upper-left corner of the screen. On the iPhone, you'll find the hamburger button in the lower-right corner. In the menu that appears, tap "Your Orders." On the next screen, you'll see a list of orders you've placed through Amazon in reverse chronological order (most recent at the top) by default. From here you can sort through orders using the "Filter orders" button or even search past orders if you tap "Search all orders" near the top of the screen. To see more details on any specific order, tap its entry in the list. RELATED: How to Search Your Amazon Order History On the order details screen, you can find information on when an item was shipped or delivered, how much it cost, track the shipment if it hasn't arrived yet, and even buy the same items again. You can also get product support from Amazon or request a return from this page—just tap the appropriate button on the screen. It's all fairly well laid out and easy to use, so now that you know where it is, you can use the "Your Orders" list whenever you need to reference a past purchase. Happy shopping! |
How to Play or Pause Music by Tapping Your iPhone’s Back Posted: 24 Jan 2021 05:30 AM PST Using a feature called Back Tap on iPhone 8 or newer running iOS 14 or later, you can configure your iPhone to play or pause your music just by tapping two or three times on the back of your phone. Here's how to set it up. Part 1: Create the Play/Pause ShortcutTo play or pause music with taps, we'll need help from an Apple shortcut, which is a type of automated procedure that you can set up on your iPhone to perform a task. But not to worry—in this case, the task is very simple, so creating it is easy. We'll walk you through the process. First, launch the Shortcuts app. If you can't find it, swipe downward from the center of the screen until you see a search bar. Type "Shortcuts," then tap the Shortcuts app icon that appears. Once Shortcuts is open, tap the "My Shortcuts" button on the bottom of the screen and select "All Shortcuts." On the "All Shortcuts" screen, tap the plus ("+") button to add a new shortcut. On the "New Shortcut" page, tap the ellipses button (three dots in a circle) to begin renaming the shortcut. On the "Details" card, tap the "Shortcut Name" text area, type "Play/Pause Music," then tap "Done." Next, tap the "Add Action" button. In the "Actions" panel that appears, type "Play/pause" in the search bar, then select "Play/Pause" from the list of results below. Next, you'll see an overview of our very simple Shortcut. It will read "Now Playing," then list the "Play/Pause on iPhone" action. When you're satisfied, tap "Done." After that, tap the "Play/Pause" music button in your shortcuts list to test it out. Music will begin to play. If you tap it again, the music will pause. It works! Part 2: Configure Back TapNext, we'll need to configure the Back Tap feature to use the "Play/Pause Music" shortcut that we just created. To do so, open Settings. In Settings, navigate to Accessibility > Touch > Back Tap. In "Back Tap" settings, you can choose whether two or three taps will trigger the "Play/Pause Music" shortcut. Tap the one you'd prefer. You'll see a list of actions that can be triggered if you use Back Tap. Scroll down the list until you get to the "Shortcuts" section at the bottom and tap the "Play/Pause Music" shortcut that we created earlier. When it's been selected, it will have a blue check mark beside it. After that, exit Settings. Tap the back of your iPhone two or three times (depending on how you set it up) and music will start playing. Tap the back again and the music will pause. You can alternate between play and pause as many times as you like. Back Tap works anywhere on the iPhone, including the Lock screen, but your iPhone's screen must be active for it to work. Happy listening! RELATED: How to Launch Actions by Tapping on the Back of Your iPhone |
How to Tell If Your PS5 Is Playing the PS4 Version of a Game Posted: 23 Jan 2021 06:40 PM PST Some of your PlayStation 5 (PS5) games might be PlayStation 4 (PS4) games in disguise. Here's how you can tell the difference between console versions and change these games to their next-gen versions. The PlayStation 5, unlike its predecessor, is backward compatible with one generation, meaning that you can play almost all PlayStation 4 games on it. However, one of the downsides is that, for some cross-gen games (games that are released simultaneously on both Sony consoles), the PlayStation 4 version is installed by default. It's in your best interest to make sure that the game you have installed on your PlayStation 5 is the PS5 version, as there is often a graphical difference between that one and the PS4 version. There are two different ways you can find out which version of the game is currently installed on your PS5. We'll detail both options. The DualSense Options ButtonThe first way is only available with games that have tiles on the main menu—in other words, games you've installed or played recently. So you may be limited in the number of games you can check. However, it is the fastest and clearest way to determine which version of the game you have installed. Find the tile of the game you want to check on your PS5's home screen. When the tile is highlighted and the game's backdrop takes up the whole screen, check the title of the game just under the row of tiles. Usually, if the version of the game installed is for the previous-generation console, the game's title will have "PS4" at the end. If that's not clear enough, you can also check which version of the game is installed using the Options menu while you're on the game's tile. Tap the Options button on your DualSense controller. This is the small button by the top-right corner of the touchpad. This will bring up an onscreen options drop-down menu next to the tile. If you're playing a cross-generation title (meaning one that is available in both PS4 and PS5 versions), then the menu will have the option to "Check Game Version."
Once you've selected "Check Game Version," a sub-menu will appear onscreen with every version of the game listed. The version that you have installed on your system will have a checkmark next to it.
The Ellipsis MenuThe second way to check if you have the PS4 version of a game installed on your PS5 is through the ellipsis menu next to the "Play" button at the bottom of the home screen. The information you find here will be slightly different. When you open the ellipsis menu, you'll see a version of the game listed. This is the version of the game you don't have currently selected. So if you see a listing for "PS5 [Game Title]" in the ellipsis menu, this means that you don't have the PS5 version of the game installed. Selecting this in the ellipsis menu will switch the game over to that version, and again, if the "Play" button switches to a "Download" button, then that version of the game is not installed. Unlike the Options button drop-down menu, you can access the ellipsis menu from the "Game Library." You can find this on the far-right side of the home screen's top bar. The Game Library shows you all of the games that you currently have installed or purchased, and not just the ones currently displayed in the main menu. If you have both versions of the game installed, then you can also delete the version you don't want. Simply select "Delete" from the Options button drop-down menu. You'll be directed to a screen where you can select which version of the game you want to delete. You can also delete both if you so choose. Whichever version of the game has a box ticked next to it will be deleted. How to Make Sure You Download the PS5 VersionWhat about games that aren't already installed? Luckily, the ellipsis menu gives you the option to choose which version of the game will be downloaded. First, go to the "Game Library" on the far-right side of the home screen's main menu. Next, select the tile of the game you wish to install. If you can't find it at first, you can select several filter options from the button on the far-left side of the Library that can help narrow it down. You can also sort your games in alphabetical order to make it even easier. Once you've found the uninstalled game in question, tap the "X" button on your DualSense controller while its tile is highlighted and you'll be taken to a page for the game. Select the ellipsis next to the "Download" button and bring up the menu again. You'll see whichever versions of the game aren't currently selected—meaning whichever one you don't see in this menu is the one you'd be downloading. So if you wish to install the PS5 version of the game, make sure that this version is not listed in the ellipsis menu. If it is, select it. To make sure that there's a PS5 version to install, try selecting another version and checking the ellipsis menu again. One of the PlayStation 5's weaknesses is obscuring necessary information such as this within menus. But once you know where to look, you can figure out which version of the game you have installed and switch over if necessary. |
How to Create a Public Link for Your WhatsApp Group Posted: 23 Jan 2021 08:47 AM PST When you have a public WhatsApp group, adding each new member yourself can be tedious. Thankfully, you have an alternative. WhatsApp allows you to create a shareable link that interested participants can click to join your group instantly. Here's how to use it.
Open the WhatsApp app on your iPhone or Android device and select your group chat. Next, tap your group's name at the top of the screen to visit its profile page. Scroll down toward the bottom of the page and select the "Invite Via Link" option. You'll find your group's link on the following screen. You can copy the link by tapping the "Copy Link" button, or you can share it directly with "Share Link." When you pick the latter or "Send Link Via WhatsApp," WhatsApp adds a standard invitation text before the link. Your group's link is public, which means that you can even post it on your website or your social feeds to invite people. When someone clicks it, they'll be able to join it without your additional approval. There's also an option to produce a QR code for your group. When you share it, anyone can scan it to join your community. In the future, in case your group's capacity maxes out or you feel like the public link is being spammed, you can reset it from this same menu with the "Reset Link" button. Your WhatsApp group's link is set to remain active indefinitely and only expires when you manually reset it. WhatsApp also offers the ability to write this link onto an NFC tag. To do that, tap the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner of the "Invite Link" page and select "Write NFC tag." Hold your phone up to an NFC tag to initiate the process. If you're running a large public WhatsApp group, you should also make sure that members can't edit its details (such as the name and description) with admin tools. |
