How to Put Your PS5 DualSense Controller Into Pairing Mode Posted: 30 Jan 2021 07:22 AM PST The PlayStation 5's (PS5) DualSense controller is Bluetooth-capable, meaning you don't need to plug it in to use it with your console. You will, however, have to pair it with the console. Here's how to put it into pairing mode. Like its predecessors, the DualShock 3 and the DualShock 4, the PS5's DualSense controller can be used wirelessly. However, if it's not connected to the PlayStation 5 by a USB cord, then you'll need to use pairing mode in order to register it with the console. When the DualSense is in pairing mode, it can be wirelessly coupled with another device—the device in question being the PS5.
Connecting the PS5's First ControllerIf you're turning on your PlayStation 5 for the first time, you'll need to connect your DualSense controller to your console with a USB cord, as you'll need it to set up your account. A cord is included with the console, so plug it into the USB port on the front of the console. Then plug the USB-C end of the cord into the port on the top of your controller. To turn the controller on, press the PlayStation button located between the two analog sticks. Your console will automatically connect with your controller, meaning you can use it immediately. Once your console is set up, you can unplug the USB cord and the controller will still be synced with the PS5. Enable the DualSense Controller's Pairing ModeFor any additional controllers you buy, you'll have to pair them up with the console via Bluetooth pairing. The first step to get your DualSense controller paired is to put it in pairing mode. To do this, hold down the PlayStation logo button and the Create button at the same time. The PlayStation button is between the two analog sticks, while the Create button is at the top-left of the trackpad. You'll know the controller is in pairing mode when the light under the trackpad blinks blue rapidly, goes dark for a second, then blinks again. Next, go to your PS5 settings by select the small gear icon in the top-right corner of the main menu. Next, navigate to "Accessories." Go to "General" and then "Bluetooth Accessories." In this menu, if your PS5 controller is still blinking, you should see "Wireless controller" on the list of "Accessories Found." Select it, and your secondary controller is now paired with your PS5 and will appear under "Registered Accessories." If you want to turn off pairing mode without pairing, press the PlayStation button again. Reset the DualSense ControllerIf you run into issues with pairing your controller, resetting your controller might be the best option. This puts your controller back into the factory mode it was in when it was first shipped, meaning you'll have to pair it with a console again. You'll have to press the reset button, which is on the back of the controller next to the word "Sony." You have to use a needle or an unfolded paper clip in order to press the button. Hold the button down for about five seconds. You won't get any indication that the controller is reset. From there, you can try the above steps again to pair the controller with your PS5. The DualSense is not the only Sony controller with a pairing mode. The DualShock 3 was the first controller with Bluetooth functionality, though the steps to pair it with a PC were more complicated than just putting it into pairing mode—check out our guide on how to accomplish it. The DualShock 4, on the other hand, was relatively simple to pair with other devices. Unlike the DualShock 3, pairing it didn't require downloading any special software. How to Customize Your Apple Watch’s Control Center Posted: 29 Jan 2021 11:23 AM PST The Control Center on your Apple Watch is a quick way to check its battery, activate modes like SIlent and Airplane mode, and perform other actions. Here's how to customize it so the features you use most are only a quick swipe away. How to Open the Control CenterFrom your watch face, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the Control Center. You can then swipe or use the Digital Crown to scroll. If you're on another screen, touch and hold on the bottom of the screen, and then swipe up. You can't open the Control Center from the Home Screen (the one with all your apps). To close the Control Center, swipe down from the top of your screen. You can also press the Digital Crown. (That's the wheel on the side of your watch.) Everything the Control Center DoesThe Control Center has a lot of features crammed into it. Here are the main options in the Control Center, going from left to right: That's a lot of different icons! RELATED: What Do All the Modes Do on My Apple Watch? How to Add or Remove IconsSome features are hidden by default. To add them to your Control Center, open the Control Center, scroll down to the bottom, and tap "Edit." Under "More," you'll see any hidden features. Tap the green "Plus" button to add the icons, then tap "Done." On the other hand, you can tidy up your Control Center by removing any features you don't use. Open the Control Center, scroll down to the bottom, and tap "Edit." Tap the red "Dash" (minus sign) icon next to any features you want hidden. Note: You won't always see every icon. For example, you won't see the Cellular icon unless you have an Apple Watch with Cellular and GPS. Similarly, you need the Walkie Talkie app installed to see its icon. How to Reposition Control Center IconsYou can also move these icons around so that your favorite features are quicker to access. Open the Control Center, scroll down and tap "Edit," tap and hold on any icon, then drag it to the place you want it to be. Tap "Done" when you're happy with things. |
How to Add Line Breaks in Microsoft Excel Posted: 29 Jan 2021 10:06 AM PST There are multiple ways to add line breaks in Excel, though none of them are obvious solutions. As with most problems in Excel, there are actually multiple ways to accomplish this. We'll look at three different ways to add line breaks. Adding a Line BreakTo add a line break, first click inside the cell (or cells) where you want to add a break. Click once more in the precise location where you want to insert the break. Because our example uses first and last names, we'll click between the two to display them on separate lines. Press Alt + Enter on the keyboard if you're using Excel on a Windows PC. If you're using a Mac, press Control + Option + Return instead. You can repeat these steps to add additional line breaks. If we want to separate a middle name onto its own line, for example, we'd just repeat the steps, placing the cursor where we want it and pressing Alt + Enter (Control + Option + Return on Mac). Auto Line Break Using Wrap TextIf you want to automatically break your lines once you reach the cell border, you can instead rely on the Wrap Text tool to do this automatically. Select all of the cells you want to apply this text wrap to by clicking inside the first and then dragging until you reach the last cell you want to wrap. From the "Home" tab, click "Wrap Text." Wrapping text in this way often leaves a few undesirable results. For example, the text may get broken in places you don't want. To fix this, just enlarge the column by clicking and dragging the line next to your column of choice. Add a Line Break After Specific CharactersSelect all the cells where you want to add a line break. From the "Home" tab, click Find & Select > Replace. Alternatively, you can just use the Ctrl+H keyboard shortcut to bring up the same dialog. In the "Find what" field, type the character you're looking for. In our case, we're looking for the comma that separates names from titles. In the "Replace with" field, press Ctrl + J to add a carriage return. This will insert a line break in place of each comma. Click the "Replace All" button at the bottom to replace all commas with carriage returns. Whichever method you used, your spreadsheet should now be easier to read at a glance. |
