Have trouble remembering the birthdays of all your friends, family, and co-workers? Luckily, the Apple iPhone comes to the rescue with automated birthday reminders. All you have to do is add birthdays within the Contacts app and flip a switch in Settings. Here's how to set it up.

First, for this to work, you must have notifications enabled for the Calendar app. To turn that on, visit Settings > Notifications > Calendar and set the switch beside "Allow Notifications" to "On."

In iPhone settings, turn Calendar notifications on.

Also, you'll need to have some birthdays defined in your Contacts app. To do that, open Contacts, then tap a contact from the list, select "Edit," then tap "add birthday."

In iPhone settings, tap "Birthdays."

On the "Birthdays" screen, you can pick a time when Calendar will alert you about upcoming birthdays. You can choose "On day of event," "1 day before," "2 days before," or "1 week before." For the first three of those choices, Calendar will notify you at 9 a.m. on the day you selected.

In iPhone settings, choose a time to be alerted about birthdays from the list.

After that, exit Settings. When the proper alert time comes, Calendar will send you a notification about the birthday.

Depending on your notifications settings, you can potentially see this alert on your lock screen or Notification Center as well as via pop-ups on your screen (To tweak them, visit Settings > Notifications > Calendar.). Very handy!

Your Chromebook allows you to create up to five different user profiles. Fortunately, you don't have to return to the login screen every time you want to switch between them. Here's how to switch between users instantly with just a keyboard shortcut.

If you don't have multiple users already, go ahead and add a new person to your Chromebook like you normally would. You can do that by simply signing out of your existing account (using Ctrl+Shift+Q) and selecting the "Add Person" option on the bottom of the lock screen.

RELATED: How to Manage Multiple User Accounts on a Single Chromebook

From any of the user accounts, click the status area that shows the Chromebook's Wi-Fi and battery levels from the bottom-right corner.

Click the Chromebook status area

In the Quick Settings panel, select your profile image's thumbnail.

Click your account image in Chromebook quick settings

Now, click the "Sign in another user" button. Select the "OK" option in the following warning prompt.

On the next screen, log in to your other Chromebook account.

Enable instant user switch on your Chromebook

Both your accounts are now eligible for the instant switch option, which means you won't need to enter a passcode to go back and forth between them.

You can repeat this process for as many user accounts as you want to.

To use the instant switch feature, click the status area again and, from under the display picture menu, simply select an account you want to sign in to.

Your Chromebook will automatically authenticate you and take you to that account without asking for the passcode. This especially comes in handy when you keep separate profiles for your work and your personal life on your Chromebook.

You can also do this with a keyboard shortcut. Press Ctrl+Alt+the period key to go to the next user and Ctrl+Alt+the comma key to go back to the previous one.

Chrome OS offers several more hidden perks that you may not know about, like a task manager and loads of keyboard shortcuts.

How to Export and Delete Saved Passwords in Chrome

Posted: 07 Mar 2021 05:39 AM PST

Google Chrome Hero

Google Chrome's built-in password manager is better than nothing, but it's not the most secure. If you're planning to move to a dedicated password manager, here's how you can safely export and delete saved passwords from Chrome.

We recommend you use a dedicated password manager for saving and syncing all your usernames and passwords across your devices. Not only is it more secure, but it's also convenient because you can generate strong passwords for all your accounts. Once it's set up, all you have to do is remember the master password to the password manager of your choice.

RELATED: Why You Shouldn’t Use Your Web Browser’s Password Manager

All popular password managers like LastPass, 1Password, Dashlane, and Bitwarden let you import passwords from Chrome. All you have to do is import the CSV file generated from Chrome.

Export Saved Passwords from Chrome

First, let's export all your saved passwords from Chrome. To get started, open the Chrome browser on your computer. Here, click your profile icon from the toolbar and select the Passwords button. Alternatively, you can enter the "chrome://settings/passwords" path into the URL bar and press the Enter or Return key.

Here, go to the "Saved Passwords" section and click the three-dot menu button from the right side.

Now, select the "Export Passwords" option.

From the pop-up, click the "Export Passwords" button.

Your computer might ask you to authenticate your identity using the password associated with your Windows 10 or Mac user account. Enter the password and click the "OK" button.

Choose the destination for the CSV file and click the "Save" button.

Once the file is downloaded, you'll find it in your computer's file system (Windows Explorer or Finder). You can now easily import the CSV file to a password manager like Bitwarden.

Warning: The CSV file that you download from Chrome will contain all your usernames and passwords in an unencrypted, plain text format. Make sure that you complete this export process on a trusted computer.

Delete Saved Passwords from Chrome

Now that you have exported your saved passwords, it's time to delete them from Chrome. There's a one-click method for deleting all passwords that are saved in Chrome and synced across all your devices using your Google account.

To do this, click the three-dot menu button from the Chrome toolbar and choose the "Settings" option.

From the "Privacy and Security" section, choose the "Clear Browsing Data" option.

Go to the "Advanced" tab, and from the "Time Range" drop-down, choose the "All Time" option.

Scroll down and check the "Passwords and Other Sign-In Data" option. Click the "Clear Data" button.

Instantly, all the passwords that are saved locally in Chrome and in your Google account will be deleted.

How to Sign out of All Devices on Spotify at Once

Posted: 06 Mar 2021 08:58 AM PST

While there isn't a device limit for Spotify subscribers, it's a good practice to sign out of devices you're no longer using. If you no longer have access to a device that you're signed in to, you can sign out of all devices at once from your account settings page.

Note: It's only possible to sign out of all devices on Spotify at once by using your web browser. You won't be able to use the desktop client on Windows or Mac, or the mobile app on Android, iPhone, or iPad.

To start, open the Spotify website in your browser of choice. If you are already signed in, click Profile > Account from the Spotify front page to access the settings page for your account.

On the Spotify front page, press Profile > Account to access the account settings menu.

If you aren't already signed in, select the "Log In" option in the top-right corner before proceeding.

Press "Log In" on the Spotify website to sign in.

Signing in via the front page will redirect you to the Spotify web player. To access the settings area from there, select your account name in the top-right corner, then select the "Account" option from the drop-down menu.

In the Spotify web player (which will load after signing in via the front page), press your account name in the top right, then click "Account."

Both methods will bring you to your Spotify account's settings area, where you can change certain settings, such as your email address or subscription plan.

To sign out of all devices, however, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the "Sign Out Everywhere" button listed underneath the "Signout Everywhere" category.

In the Spotify accounts menu, press the "Sign Out Everywhere" button.

As soon as you select this button, you'll be signed out of your Spotify account in your web browser. Almost all other devices used for Spotify should sign out automatically at this point, too. You'll also need to sign back in to any devices you wish to continue to use at this stage.

If you're using certain standalone devices, however, you may find that you need to remove these manually. As the Spotify website suggests, this includes (but is not limited to) Sonos speakers and PlayStation devices, as these require you to link your account to another device or ID first.
