How to Reduce Twitter Data Usage on iPhone and Android Posted: 14 Feb 2021 08:27 AM PST If you use the Twitter app from a cellular data connection on your iPhone or Android device, you might worry about data usage—there are a lot of cat videos out there. Luckily, Twitter provides an easy-to-enable "data saver" mode to reduce data usage. Here's how to turn it on. First, open the Twitter app. In the upper-left corner of the screen, tap your profile picture (on Android) or the hamburger button (on iPhone) to open a menu. In the menu that appears, tap "Settings and privacy." In "Settings and privacy," scroll down and tap "Data usage." In "Data usage," locate the "Data saver" option and place a checkmark beside it (on Android) or flip the switch beside it (on iPhone) to turn it on. When enabled, Twitter's "Data saver" setting will prevent videos from playing automatically, and lower-quality images will load. After that, tap the back button twice to leave Settings. Twitter's Data saver feature is now active. If you find yourself with a higher-bandwidth connection in the future, you can disable Data saver by revisiting Settings and privacy > Data usage and turning the "Data saver" option off. How to Download PS5 Games From Your Phone Posted: 13 Feb 2021 10:21 AM PST It's no secret that it can take quite some time to download games onto your PlayStation 5 (PS5). Thankfully, you can jumpstart the process and start the download process using the PlayStation smartphone app. Here's how. Link Your PS5 to the PlayStation AppBefore you can do anything with game downloads, make sure that your PS5 console is linked to the PlayStation app. To do this, open the app on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device and navigate to the settings menu. You can get there by tapping the gear icon on the app's home screen. Next, scroll down to "Console Management" and select "Link Console to App." A list of consoles will load, displaying each PlayStation you've ever signed in to. As long as you're signed in to your console, and the app with the same PlayStation account and your PS5 is on, it should show up on the list of consoles. Make sure it's selected from the list. Prepare Your PS5You'll need to turn on a setting on the PS5 itself in order to control it with the app while it's in Rest Mode. Go to the Settings menu (by selecting the gear icon in the top-right corner of the PS5's home screen), then scroll down to "System." From there, go to "Power Saving" and select "Features Available in Rest Mode" from the submenu. Toggle on the option to "Stay Connected to the Internet." This will allow your PS5 to update automatically while it's in standby mode. There's also a second toggle called "Enable Turning On PS5 From Network," which will allow you to turn on your PS5 with the app. Download Games From the AppOnce you've linked your console and toggled on the settings on your PlayStation 5, open the PlayStation mobile app on your smartphone or tablet and access your game library. It's the second tab from the right on the bottom of the app. In your game library, select the game you wish to download. If you don't see it in the list of recently played games, switch to the "Purchased" list, which automatically sorts your library alphabetically. Once you've selected a game, you'll see the option to "Download to Console." Directly below that, you'll see which console is linked to the app. Tap the "Download to Console" button, and you'll see the download progress in the queue. From there, you can just let the game download. You'll get a notification when it's ready to play on your PlayStation 5. |
How to View a List of All the Links You’ve Clicked on Instagram Posted: 13 Feb 2021 08:59 AM PST When you visit a link on Instagram, it often launches in the app's built-in web viewer, which means it's not cataloged in your browser's history. Thankfully, on Instagram itself, you can view a list of all the links you've opened. Here's how to access it. Open the Instagram app on your iPhone or Android device and head into your profile by tapping your display picture in the bottom-right corner. Tap the three-line menu icon in the top-right corner, then select "Your Activity." Under the "Links" tab, you'll find every link that you've ever clicked on Instagram in reverse chronological order. You can tap any web page to revisit it. If you want to hide a link from the "Your Activity" section, you can long-press it and select "Hide."
At the top, there's a "Hide History" option. When you select this, it will hide your complete history of links from the "Your Activity" page. While this action is irreversible, you can still browse all these links by downloading a copy of your Instagram data. You should also keep in mind that the "Hide History" button won't prevent any web pages that you visit in the future on Instagram from showing up on the "Your Activity" page. What you can delete is the cache saved in the Instagram app's built-in browser on Android. To do this, tap that three-lines menu again, and this time, tap "Settings." From there, go to Account > Browser Settings. Touch the blue "Clear" button next to "Browsing Data" to clear the cookies and cache generated from all the web pages that you've viewed on Instagram. |
